Gramesty is First Pioneer Player of the Year in a Decade
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Outfielder and catcher TJ Gramesty has been named the 2025 PGCBL Player of the Year, becoming the second player from the Elmira Pioneers and the first since 2015 to win the award.
Gramesty played in 43 games for Elmira, who went 23-20-1, and batted .366 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage. His 49 total hits co-led all players in the PGCBL, tied with Batavia's Tyler Castrataro. He had hits in 32 of the games he played, including 12 multi-hit games and five three-hit games.
Gramesty was a pest for opponents on the base-paths, stealing 22 bases without being caught. He stole multiple bases in 7 games, including four thefts on June 29th at Niagara Falls and multiple steals in three of the final four games of the season. He also scored 43 runs, good for second in the league.
In addition to consistency and speed, Gramesty added power to his game . His 75 total bases were second-most in the PGCBL, as were his 16 extra base hits. He had eight doubles, two home runs, and a league-leading 6 triples.
Gramesty took a redshirt season at Florida Atlantic University in 2025 and will rejoin the Owls for the 2026 season.
Nominations for Player of the Year were done in conjunction with the selection of All-League Teams, which will be announced on Friday, August 8th. Each team submitted one nominee for Player of the Year and the winner was chosen by the PGCBL league office.
